Bảo Đệ Tử

Thân người như bóng chớp, có rồi lại trở lại không

Như muôn cây cỏ mùa xuân tươi tốt, đến mùa thu khô héo

Ngẫm và hiểu cái lý của thịnh suy, lòng không sợ hãi

(Cũng có thể dịch: Khi đã đạt đến bậc “nhậm vận” thì thịnh

 hay suy đều không sợ hãi)

Vì thịnh suy nối tiếp nhau như khoảng thời gian hạt sương

móc trên đầu ngọn cỏ.

Thân như chớp có lại không

Cỏ cây xuân thắm rồi đông úa tàn

Sợ gì suy thịnh thế gian

Thịnh suy như cỏ bên đàng treo sương

                 Advice To Disciples

Our body is like lightning, there one moment, then gone

Like the luxuriant foliage of spring, which turns yellow in the fall

Contemplating the law of prosperity & decline, one has no fear

Decline and Prosperity lasts the length of time a dew drop clings to the tip of the grass.

            Advice To Disciples

The body, like lightning, here then gone.

Like spring foliage that withers in fall.

Don’t worry about the show of rise and decline;

Like dewdrops on grass, so our lives float on.
