Trong cây vốn có lửa

Sẵn lửa, lửa mới sinh ra

Nếu cây không có lửa

Khi cọ xát sao lại thành?

                                     Dịch thơ 

                         Gốc lửa

Cây xanh sẵn lửa bao đời

Truyền qua bao kiếp đổi dời tái sinh

Nếu không sẵn nhiệt tử sanh

Đem cây cọ xát dễ thành lửa sao?

In the tree there must be fire already

Since the fire is already there, it can be born

If the tree doesn’t  contain fire already

How come when we rub them together, there is fire?

Root of Fire

The fire lives in the tree.

The tree breathes the fire to life

If the tree is bereft of fire,

How will the rubbed wood spark?
